It’s common theme that Parts Managers “listen” to know when an Active parts item is now out of stock. Parts people will say something “if” it’s very obvious; a practice you should never count on. Some PM’s will run an “Out Of Stock” or “Stock Out” report, reporting parts that are Active Inventory but now at 0. Having 0 on-hand Active parts you still have to order & wait for is a problem at THAT moment. Practice running daily stock order reports and reviewing before you run out. Yes, run a stock order report daily even if you have a weekly stock order, then cancel the SO and place higher volume parts on a daily order right away.
